EYE EXERCISE
There are many different things that can affect the eyes of a pwms ranging from double vision in one or both eyes, nystagmus (the eyes flickering and jerking) or retrobulbo-neuritis (blank or black patches within the field of vision). Other people have pain within the eye (inflammation of the optic nerve) Many people have one or all of these symptoms at one time or another and, luckily, most people find that the symptom passes given time. The following simple exercise flexes and tones all the muscles in and around the eye ensuring that poor circulation is improved as well as stiffness in the muscles (and these muscles are just like any other in the body - they need to be exercised)
There are several groups of muscles in the eye area:
~The muscles that cause the eyebrows to sag and bags to appear beneath the eyes and the perk with this routine is that the bags go!!!!
~The muscles that control the direction you are looking.
~The muscles that control focus and distance.
Many of us sit with our eyes fixed at one distance (working on the computer is the obvious one) but reading, watching tv and driving can all cause us to focus at one distance for long periods of time.
Here we go...
-Squeeze the eyes tightly shut with the eyebrows pulled down and SLOWLY let that tension seep away
-Now widen the eye socket by pushing your eyebrows as high up as they will go and slowly relax
-Now turn your eyes up as high as they will go without moving your head and hold for a slow count of ten then let them return to centre and soften and relax.
-The next move turns the eyes to the right (as if you were trying to look out of your ear), hold for ten and relax
-Then to the left - count to ten - relax
-Finally down to attempt to see into the roof of your own mouth - hold – relax
-Now circle the eyes just around the socket three times in each direction
-Finally (and this is the odd one)
-Rub the palms together until you can feel some heat and then cup them over both eye sockets and let the static electricity and warmth relax the eye I have been using this little routine and several people have reported an improvement to their sight - it is worth trying.
* Like any exercise program, please consult your healthcare professional before you begin. Please stop immediately if any of the exercises cause pain or harm to your body.
